Does the above poll seem like an obvious question to ask?

You could be getting ready for a night out with friends, going on a special date with your significant other, or maybe planning a sensual night in with your lover.  Whatever the event,  if you know the evening will end with very little to no clothing left on, does it matter if you have groomed yourself properly for the occasion?

After much research, it became clear the importance of “prepping” yourself before a sexual encounter was just that, important.

However, the level of prepping can have multiple meanings.

Elle magazine did a sex and beauty survey where 27,000 men and women answered  a variety of questions concerning turn on and offs of dating and grooming.

The top turn offs:

  • Body Odor
  • Bad Breathe
  • Extra Pounds
  • Ugly Teeth

Many women in the survey where concerned about their own image and spent an average of $79.00 every two months on grooming. It seems a stretch to think the average monthly grooming expense of the women surveyed only spent an average of $39.50 a month!

Does that sound accurate to you?

Men, however it was much lower with an average of $39.00 every two months. If that is true, most men only spend $19.50 a month on grooming themselves! This is  the bare bones of grooming: soap, shampoo, conditioner, toothbrush and toothpaste. The end.

Lets go back to the top two turn offs: body odor and bad breathe.   This is by far is the most universally important thing you have to take care of when preparing to get intimate with someone.  Unless your senses have been dulled to the point of no smell or taste, they should not be ignored.

These two things are just the simple beginning of what you should do.

What else is important to do to prepare?

Most women are more than concerned about what is going on below the waist and keeping it trimmed and clean.   MSNBC  has an article written by Brian Alexander called:

Grooming for Sexual Success

This article discusses these obvious grooming rituals and why prepping for sexual success is important.

Outside of the basic daily grooming rituals of brushing teeth and showering, there are additional things that can be done to make your body even more sensual, silky and soft to slide into your sexy lingerie or intimate apparel.

What other things can assist in grooming for sexual success?

  • Lotions
  • Light perfume
  • Waxing
  • Shaving
  • Exfoliating dry skin
  • Trim and polish toe nail
  • Lip balm or chapstick to keep those lips soft and kissable
  • Tweezing or plucking those random hairs that have no purpose and seem to pop up wherever they please

Is this starting to sound like too much work?  There may be a good middle ground for you, but if you are planning an extra special night,  taking these extra body grooming steps will only assist in making it more sensual and enjoyable for you and your partner.

Do you agree or is this just extra work?
